Everything in this initiative is open source and volunteer-built. If you can write code, wrangle data, or just know how Congress actually works, there is a proposal here with your name on it.

Browse the 19 proposals and pick one that matches your skills — efforts range from a weekend bookmarklet to a full data pipeline, and every one answers a real request from people working in and around Congress. Or jump into a project that is already shipping.

Coordination happens on the Civic Tech DC Slack and in GitHub issues. Introduce yourself, say what you want to work on, and someone will point you at the right thread.

The repo ships a devcontainer with Python, Node, and Git LFS preconfigured — open it in VS Code and you are ready in one step, no local setup.
